German ace Bremer cannot wait to soar with the Seagulls

Champions League finalist Pauline Bremer is relishing life in the Women's Super League after trading Wolfsburg for Brighton.

Bremer, 27, was a late substitute as the German side lost 3-2 to Barcelona in the final earlier this month.

And the forward cannot wait to work under Melissa Phillips, who guided the Seagulls to safety last season after taking charge in April.

Bremer said: "I'm excited to start a new chapter in my career. I've been waiting for this day and I can't wait for the season to start.

"Wolfsburg are a really good club and I felt at home but I was looking for a new adventure and Brighton is the best next step in my career.

"I'm really looking forward to everything. The club are very ambitious and I'm personally very ambitious.

"I like the professional surroundings here. Everything is at a high level and I want to contribute to a better team performance and help the club in the WSL.

"I think what we have here is special. I've been with a few clubs and I know it's not like this everywhere."

Bremer, who has been capped 21 times by Germany, is no stranger to the WSL having previously played for Manchester City for three seasons.

She added: "What makes the English league interesting is that it's fully professional and there are good facilities to help make it competitive.

"More and more clubs are investing and watching women's football, especially after the Euros."

Bremer, who has twice won the Champions League, wants to use her experience to help her new team-mates.

She said: "I really want to bring leadership to the team on and off the pitch.

"I have that winning mentality and I hope I can contribute that to the squad, score lots of goals and help the young players develop.

"It's a big opportunity for everyone. We're having a big transition with new players coming in.

"It will be important that we communicate about who we want to be and what we need to develop.

"The opportunity to be successful is there and we just have to take it."
