Saudi side Al-Hilal swoop for Chelsea defender Koulibaly

Kalidou Koulibaly has become the latest star player to make the switch to the Saudi Pro League.

Al-Hilal have completed a deal for the Senegalese defender, who ends his time at Chelsea after just one season.

A statement on the London club's official website said: "We would like to thank Kalidou for his contributions on and off the pitch during his time at Stamford Bridge and wish him well for the next stage of his career."

Chelsea spent a reported £33million to land the centre-back on a four-year contract last summer but the 70-cap international failed to impress.

He played 32 matches in all competitions as the Blues slumped to a 12th-placed Premier League finish.

Koulibaly, 32, follows former team-mate N'Golo Kante, who joined his French compatriot Karim Benzema at Al-Ittihad earlier this month, to the Saudi Pro League.

After being unveiled by his new club, the Africa Cup of Nations winner said: "I'm here with those who make the glory in the present and the future."
