Hampton targeting glory after completing 'dream' Chelsea move

Hannah Hampton is targeting major silverware after sealing a "dream" move to Women's Super League champions Chelsea.

The England goalkeeper, 22, has signed a three-year deal at Kingsmeadow after her contract with Aston Villa expired.

Speaking about her ambitions in West London, Hampton told Chelsea's official website: "I'm very excited! It's a massive club, it's an honour to be a part of this and to be able to wear the club's badge.

"I want to keep improving, to help the team however I can and I'd love to win some trophies with the club at the same time.

"I made my debut at Birmingham when I was 16 and everyone would always ask, 'Where do you want to end up?' I would always say Chelsea because they were always winning things!

"They're best club in the country so to be at Chelsea now is honestly a dream come true for me."

The Blues are not short of stoppers with Ann-Katrin Berger, Zecira Musovic, Nicky Evrard and Emily Orman already on the books.

A loan move to another WSL club is reportedly an option but Chelsea boss Emma Hayes knows they have a top-quality goalie for the future on their hands.

Hayes said: "There is no doubt that Hannah is one of the best young goalkeepers in the world.

"Her performances have been improving year on year, and we have high hopes for her future with us."

Having sealed her switch to Kingsmeadow, Hampton will jet off to Australia with the rest of the England squad to prepare for the start of their Women's World Cup campaign against Haiti on July 22.
