New deal Spurs on Ayane ahead of upcoming WSL season

Rosella Ayane cannot wait for the new Women's Super League season after extending her stay with Tottenham.

Signed from Bristol City in July 2019, the Morocco international is now tied to the club until June 2025.

And Ayane, 27, is relishing the opportinity to add to the 66 WSL appearances she has already clocked up for the North Londoners.

She said: "I'm over the moon. For me, Tottenham is my home. It's somewhere I've spent four years and loved every second.

"I don't think any player's journey is ever easy so I'm delighted to be here for another two years.

"The environment and group of players we have is one of the main reasons I wanted to stay.

"We've also got a great group of staff who have really pushed me and given me another injection of confidence and belief.

"I think that’s showed in my performances. They make me feel valued and loved, so that's one of the main reasons why I wanted to stick around.”

Tottenham were embroiled in a relegation battle last season but eventually finished seven points ahead of relegated Leicester in ninth.

And Ayane is looking forward to helping Spurs climb the table in 2023-24.

The attacker added: "When we found ourselves in a deep relegation battle, I really tried to step up.

"One thing about me is that I will always give my best to the team. I'll leave literally everything I have out on the pitch.

"Thank goodness we managed to stay up. It wasn't a position I think we deserved to be in but that's football and hopefully we can kick on.

"As a group, for us it's about improving. I remember being sat here with my last contract and I said that Rome wasn't built in a day — and I still believe that.

"The direction the club is going in is really positive and I'm really excited for next season and what's to come."
